Debt Settlement Lawyer Serving Florida

Client Responsibilities

When you choose our firm to help you settle your debt, we need you to work with us as a team in order to obtain the best possible result for you.  When dealing with a professional debt settlement attorney, providing the needed paperwork and following our instructions is key to ensuring your program is successful.

After signing up with Attorney Deborah Carman, my firm will need you to provide us with all correspondence you receive from any creditors, whether through the mail or by phone.  Any legal paperwork received, such as lawsuits or wage garnishment notices must be forwarded immediately, as they are time sensitive.  We must respond to these quickly in order to prevent your having to deal with a more serious legal matter.

No further contact should be conducted with any of your creditors.  You only need to advise them that you are working with an attorney, and provide them with my information.  By law, they should discontinue calling  you.  If any continue to harass you, it is vital to document exactly what was said and who contacted you, as you may have cause to file a lawsuit against the agency for violating federal laws.  It may take a few weeks to get all of your creditors informed, but calls should begin to diminish almost immediately

Settling  your debt is a complex and time consuming process.  It can take several months or longer.  We require your cooperation and patience throughout this process, as we work with you to get your finances back in order.

One of the most important responsibilities you have - once my firm has negotiated payment arrangements or settlements with your creditors - is to ensure you make your payments on time as agreed.  Failure to do so could jeopardize the settlement plan.

Working as a Team

By working together as a team, my legal staff will support you throughout this difficult time by providing you personal attention and strong legal advice.  Having helped numerous clients get through debt settlements in the past 28 years, I know exactly what to expect and how best to get you back to financial recovery.  Call us for your free initial consultation.
